Limiting oxygen concentration

The limiting oxygen concentration (LOC ) is the maximum concentration of oxygen in a mixture of a flammable substance with air and inert gas in which an explosion will not occur.

The limiting oxygen concentration is in addition to the upper and lower explosive limit (UEL and LEL ) and the flash point of a characteristic quantity of explosive mixtures.

It is determined under specified test conditions.
