Limuru

Limuru is a town in central Kenya, it is located about 50 km northwest of Nairobi. Currently, Limuru has a population of approx. 5000 inhabitants.

Limuru is located in Kiambu District in the south of the Central Province. It originated in the 1890s, when European settlers here were resident who appreciated the proximity to Nairobi, the situation at the train station and the mild climate of the highlands. Limuru is located at an altitude of 2,250 m.

To date, Limuru is famous for its now 100- year-long tea production.

Limuru is the birthplace of the famous Kenyan writer, Ngugi wa Thiong'o.
