Lina Bo Bardi

Lina Bo Bardi, born Achillina Bo, (* 1914 in Rome, Italy, † 1992 in São Paulo) was a Brazilian architect and designer of Italian origin.

Lina Bò Bardi began her career in the architectural firm of Gio Ponti, the editor of the magazine Domus in Milan. In 1946 she married the gallery owners, art critics and journalists Pietro Maria Bardi and went to Brazil, where she produced numerous well-known public and private buildings, including the Museu de Arte de São Paulo (1957 ), the Prefecture of São Paolo ( 1990-1992), the church Espirito Santo do Cerrado (1977-1982), the cultural and sports center Fábrica da Pompéia (1977-1986) and the house Casa de Vidro ( 1950-1951 ).

Bò Bardi was also active as a designer for some of their buildings, such as the Fábrica da Pompeia, she created important parts of the interior. From her, among other things originate a well-known folding wooden chair, the " free Egidio " chair (after a Franciscan model of the 15th century ).
