Lincoln County (Arkansas)

Lincoln County is a county located in the U.S. state of Arkansas. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat), Star City. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in the central south-east of Arkansas, is in the east about 70 km from the Mississippi River, which forms the border with Tennessee, located in the south about 90 miles from Louisiana and has an area of 1482 square kilometers, of which 28 square kilometers are water surface. History

The Lincoln County was formed on March 28, 1871 from parts of Arkansas County, the Bradley County, the Desha County, Drew County of and Jefferson County. It was named after Abraham Lincoln (1809 -1865), the 16th U.S. president.

The first county court entered on April 24, 1871 in the Cane Creek Church together, should occur at the point where the later Star City and was elected to the county seat, though it was not the central location in the county.
