The Lincoln County is a county located in the state of Colorado of the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Hugo.

The County is located in Eastern Colorado and has an area of 6699 square kilometers, of which 1 square kilometers of water surface.

According to the census of 2000, there were 6,087 people in the county. There were 2,058 households and 1,389 families. The population density was 1 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 86.30 percent White, 4.96 percent African American, 0.94 percent Native American, 0.56 percent Asian, 0.03 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 5.65 percent from other races groups; 1.56 percent were descended from two or more races. 8.53 percent of the total population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 2,058 households out of which 33.7 percent have children under the age of 18 living with them. 55.3 percent were married couples living together, 8.4 percent were single mothers. 32.5 percent were non-families. 29.0 percent of all households and 13.0 percent lived in people aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 3.04.
Based on the county the population was spread from 23.9 percent population under 18 years, 7.1 percent between 18 and 24 years, 33.0 percent between 25 and 44 years, 21.8 percent between 45 and 64 years and 14.3 percent were 65 years old or older. The average age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 130.9 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 140.7 males.
