Lincoln County (Georgia)

The Lincoln County is a county located in the state of Georgia in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lincolnton.

Geography

The County in northeastern Georgia on the border of South Carolina and has an area of 666 square kilometers, of which 120 square kilometers of water are bordered clockwise to the following counties: Columbia County, McDuffie County, Wilkes County and Elbert County.

History

Lincoln County was formed on 20 February 1796 as original county. It was named, as well as the city of Lincolnton, according to Benjamin Lincoln, a general in the Revolutionary War.
