Lincoln County (Kansas)
Lincoln County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lincoln Center.
Geography
The County is located east of the geographic center of Kansas and has an area of 1865 square kilometers, of which three square miles are water. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Mitchell County, Ottawa County, Saline County, Ellsworth County, Russell County Osborne County.
History
Lincoln County was formed on 26 February 1867. It was named after Abraham Lincoln, the 16th U.S. president.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Lincoln County 3578 people in 1529 households and 1039 families in Lincoln County. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 98.30 percent White, 0.11 percent African American, 0.48 percent Native American, 0.11 percent Asian, and 0.25 percent from other races; 0.75 percent were descended from two or more races. 1.03 percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 1529 households out of which 27.1 percent of children under 18 who lived with them. 58.1 percent were married couples living together, 6.4 percent were single mothers and 32.0 percent were non-families. 29.6 percent of all households were single-person households and 16.4 percent living alone who is 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.81 persons.
23.5 percent of the population were under 18 years old. 5.5 percent 18 to 24 years 22.9 percent between 25 and 44, 24.6 percent between 45 and 64 years, and 23.5 percent were 65 years of age or older. The average age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 96.2 males. For every 100 adult women 18 years and older 92.4 males.
The median income for a household was $ 30,893, and the median income for a family was $ 36,538. Males have a median income of $ 24,681, women $ 20,000. The per capita income was $ 15,788. 7.3 percent of families and 9.7 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
