Lincoln County (Kentucky)

Lincoln County is a county located in the state of Kentucky in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Stanford. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County just east of the geographic center of Kentucky and has an area of 871 square kilometers, of which one square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Boyle County, Garrard County, Rockcastle County, Pulaski County and Casey County.

History

Lincoln County was formed on May 1, 1780 Original County from the Virginia Territory. It was named for Benjamin Lincoln, a general in the American Revolutionary War.
