Lincoln County (Wyoming)
Lincoln County is a county located in the state of Wyoming in the United States. On 1 July 2005, Lincoln County had 15,999 inhabitants. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Kemmerer.
Geography
The county has an area of 10,590 square kilometers; of which 52 square kilometers of water. It is bordered clockwise to the County: Teton County, Sublette County, Sweetwater County, Uinta County, Richmond County ( Utah), Bear Lake County ( Idaho), Caribou County ( Idaho) and Bonneville County ( Idaho).
In the county there are parts of the Bridger - Teton National Forest, a National Forest, and the Fossil Butte National Monument, a paleontological deposit of fossils, particularly fish, from the Eocene.
History
Lincoln County was founded in 1911.
Demographic data
According to the census of 2000, there were 14,573 people in Lincoln County. There were 5266 households, and 3949 families. The population density was 1 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 97.15 % White, 0.10 % African American, 0.57 % Native American, 0.23 % Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander residents from the and 0.71 % from other races groups; 1.19% were descended from two or more races. 2.16% percent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Of the 5,266 households out of which 36.50 % have children under the age of 18 living with them. 66.70 % were married couples living together, 5.10% percent were single mothers, 25.00% were non-families. 21.00% of all households and 7.90% had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.23 persons.
Based on the county the population was spread out with 30.90 % under the age of 18, 7.20 % from 18 to 24, 25.40% from 25 to 44 years, 24.20 % between 45 and 64 years and 12.40% were 65 years old or older. The average age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 102.00 males to 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.30 males.
The median income for a household was $ 40,794, and the median income for a family was 44 919. USD. Males have a median income of $ 37,353, women $ 20,928. The per capita income was $ 17,533. 9.00% of families and 6.40 % of the population were below the poverty line. 11.60% of those under age 18 and 6.40% were 65 years or older.
