Lincoln, New Zealand

Lincoln is a town in the Selwyn District in Canterbury region of the South Island of New Zealand. It is located in the Canterbury Plains west of the Banks Peninsula, 22 kilometers south of Christchurch. At the 2006 census the population was 2,727.

Lincoln was a railroad junction in 1875 built railway line Southbridge Branch. The line was closed in 1962. The place is home to the Lincoln University, one of eight universities in New Zealand.
