Lincoln Town Car

The Lincoln Town Car was an American car model of the upper class of the car manufacturer Ford owned premium brand Lincoln.

This was the flagship of Lincoln, since it was launched in 1981. Town Cars represent the majority of luxury sedans in the U.S. (around 85%), and stretch limos are almost exclusively Town Cars.

History

A special version of the 1959 Lincoln Continental was first described as a Town Car. After the Continental had received a new design, the Town Car special version was no longer available. Only in 1971 the name Town Car was again using. From 1971 to 1980, the model with the most extensive special equipment for the Lincoln Continental was provided with the name Town Car. In 1981, the production of the Lincoln Continental was temporarily suspended, and the Lincoln Town Car was the prestige model of the Lincoln brand.

The name refers to a Town Car sedan version, which was very popular in the U.S. in the 20s. In the Town Car models of the 20 passengers were sitting in the back seat in a separate cab, while the driver of the car was sitting outside in the open. Previous to 1980

From 1970-1980 " Town Car " was the name given to the most luxurious equipment package of the Lincoln Continental, the former flagship of Lincoln.
