Linda A. Morabito
Linda A. Morabito Kelly ( born November 21, 1953 in Vancouver, Canada) was an employee of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory during the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 missions to the outer planets. She has worked as a navigational engineer the optical navigation and image processing system (Optical Navigation Imaging Processing System, or ONIPS ).
As she examined photos of Voyager 1 on March 8, 1979 by Jupiter, she noticed the pictures of the moon Io on a 300- mile-high cloud along the edge of the moon. This was the first discovery of active volcanism on another celestial body. Later she became the program development director of the Planetary Society.
