Linda Maria Koldau

Linda Maria Koldau ( born October 28, 1971 in Munich) is a professor of musicology and cultural history and has held the chair at the University of Aarhus, which was once set up for the Danish musicologist Knud Jeppesen. Her work represents an interdisciplinary, culturally and historically oriented musicology, which illuminates the connections between music and social context based on comprehensive knowledge of sources and musical analysis.

Career

Linda Maria Koldau studied at the University of Reading and the University of Mainz musicology, American and Romance Studies and received his doctorate in 2000 at the University of Bonn on the Venetian church music of Claudio Monteverdi. In 2005 she qualified as a professor at the University of Frankfurt am Main with a thesis on women in the musical culture of the early modern period. Both works have been awarded University prizes. From 2006 to 2008 she was Chair Representative and head of the Institute of Musicology at the University of Frankfurt am Main; In 2009 she received the call to the Chair of Musicology and Cultural History at the University of Aarhus. She is a member in several international research associations and interdisciplinary networks and has published on various comprehensive musicological and cultural- historical areas. In the period from 1992 to 2002, she worked part-time as a music journalist for the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung; Since 1995 she authored radio broadcasts for various German cultural channel.
