Linda Somers

Linda Somers Smith ( born May 7, 1961 in Bitburg ) is an American long-distance runner.

Linda Somers first played tennis before she discovered shortly after beginning their studies to walk for themselves. In 1992 she won the Chicago Marathon in 1993 and 1994, the U.S. Championship in Marathon, and at the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg in 1995, she was seventh.

With her personal best of 2:30:06, she qualified for the Olympic Summer Games in Atlanta in 1996. There they suffered during the race, a tear in the Achilles tendon, but still finished the race in the 31st position.

At 42, she participated in the marathon in the 2003 World Championships in part in Paris, finishing in 37th place.

By profession, she is a lawyer. Since 1997 she is married to the former triathlete Scott Smith.
