Lindre-Basse

Lindre -Basse is a commune of 226 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It is located in the Regional Natural Park of Lorraine, east of Metz, on the banks of the pond Linder ( Etang de Lindre ).

The pond itself was first mentioned in 1263 as Linter, Lindre -Basse originated in the late 15th century.

The area belonged to the County of Zweibrücken in 1297 and then went over in exchange to the Duchy of Lorraine.

1871-1918 was Lindre -Basse to the German Empire, French remained until their ban in 1915 the official language of the place name was Germanized in low - Linder. In November 1918, Lindre -Basse was returned to France.

During the Second World War the town was occupied by the Germans in 1940, the renamed him until the liberation in autumn 1944 in Lower Linden.
