Lindsey Davis

Lindsey Davis ( born 1949 in Birmingham) is a British writer who is mainly known for its historical crime novels about Detective Marcus Didius Falco Roman.

After studying English literature at Oxford University (College Lady Margaret Hall ), she joined the civil service, which she left after thirteen years. After a romance novel written by her in 1985 reached the second place in the competition for the Georgette Heyer Historical Novel Prize, she decided on a career as a writer and then wrote the continuation romance novels for British women's magazine Woman's Realm.

My interest in history and archeology led to a historical novel about the Roman emperor Vespasian and his mistress Antonia Caenis ( The Course of Honour, dt The consort of the emperor), but they could not find a publisher. She tried again with a playing in the same era detective novel, The Silver Pigs (German silver pigs). This appeared in 1989, a very successful novel by Marcus Didius Falco Roman investigators she had by 2010 19 sequels and a companion book to follow. Her first written novel about Vespasian finally appeared in 1998 in the print.

After two other historical novels, which appeared in 2009 and 2012, Davis began in 2013 a new series of historical crime novels about the Roman investigator Flavia Albia, Falco's adopted daughter.
