Linear Arithmetic synthesis

The Linear Arithmetic synthesis (short- LA synthesis) was coined by the company Roland, the first in 1987 used this in the synthesizer Roland D-50.

Sampler, save the entire sound of the instrument, need a lot of memory and are thus expensive. The most important part of the sound of most instruments is the appeal. Due to this fact, Roland developed the LA- synthesis, in which a short sample of the appeal is used and the subsequent usually fairly constant sound is generated by simple subtractive synthesis. In this way, could be produced with very low memory requirements for the conditions at that time very realistic sounds.
