Appearance and characteristics

Etmopterus bullisi is a small shark with a known body length of about 26 centimeters. He has a typical for the lantern sharks elongated body with a long and wide at the same time and on the upper side flattened head. The body color is dark rußgrau with a black base. It has a drawing of bright stripe that runs from the eyes to the first dorsal fin (which he received the English common name " Lined lanternshark "). He also has the typical for the lantern sharks light organs on the ventral side.

It has no anal fin and two dorsal fins with the regulatory typical spines before the dorsal fin. The first dorsal fin starts behind the pectoral fins on its rear edge and is smaller than the second. The distance between the dorsal fin is relatively short. The tail is long.
