Linlithgow

Linlithgow ( [ lɪnlɪθɡoʊ ]; Scottish Gaelic Gleann Iucha, Scots Lithgae ) is the former capital named after their Scottish county of Linlithgowshire, whose official name today is West Lothian.

Linlithgow is considered the Versailles of the kings of Scotland because of Linlithgow Palace, a castle where Mary Queen of Scots was born. It is located inside the County on a small lake and has a 1618 built townhouse. Literary Linlithgow is known by Friedrich Schiller's play Mary Stuart and Theodor Fontane's ballad Archibald Douglas:

" Instead, think taught back to Linlithgow, to the lake and the bird stove, where I fish and hunt you happy and swim and jump. "
