Linn County (Missouri)
The Linn County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 12,761 inhabitants and a population density of 7.9 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Linneus, which was named after Senator Linn either or after the Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus.
Geography
The County is located in northern Missouri and is about 70 km away from Iowa. It covers an area of 1610 square kilometers, of which 3 square miles is water area. At the Linn County borders the following Nachbarcountys:
History
Linn County was formed in 1837. It was named for Lewis F. Linn, a U.S. Senator from Missouri.
From Laclede came John J. Pershing (1860-1948), commander of U.S. forces in Europe in the First World War.
Demographic data
According to the census in 2010 lived in Linn County 12761 people in 5062 households. The population density was 7.9 people per square kilometer. In the 5062 households lived statistically 2.53 per person.
The racial the population was composed of 97.4 percent white, 0.9 percent African American, 0.3 percent Native American, 0.2 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.2 percent were descended from two or more races.
