Linus Omark

Linus Karl Heimer Omark ( born February 5, 1987 in Övertorneå ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey player who is since February 2014 again at Luleå HF in the Svenska Hockey ligands under contract.

Career

Omark, who was born in northern Sweden Övertorneå and grew up, moved as a teenager to the top club Luleå HF that is not home to one of the few clubs in the south of the country. After Omark had been deported to the Oklahoma City Barons during the 2011/12 season in the American Hockey League, he signed in August 2012 a one-year contract with EV train from the Swiss National League A. He quickly became a star in the league and finished the 2012/13 season as top scorer with 69 points. In particular, in conjunction with NHL star Damien Brunner Omark was effective. For the 2013/14 season he returned to the Edmonton Oilers, but only played an NHL game before he was summoned again to the Oklahoma City Barons. There he was with 29 points after 28 games leading scorer of the team.

On December 19, 2013 Omark is for a sixth- round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2014 to the Buffalo Sabres. But even with the Sabres, he could not prevail. When he refused in February 2014 to play for the Rochester Americans, he was released from his contract and returned to his hometown club.

Internationally

At the international level Omark represented his native Sweden for the first time at the Junior World Cup 2007 in their own country. After defeat in the semi-finals and the match for third place, he finished with the team to fourth place and thus remained without a medal.
