Lionel Lindon

Lionel Lindon ( born September 2, 1905 in San Francisco, California, † September 20, 1971 in Van Nuys, California ) was an American cinematographer.

Life

Lionel Lindon began his career in the film business as "Camera operator" in the 1930s. Overall, he worked on more than 100 productions.

In 1945 he was nominated for his work on The way to happiness for an Oscar. In 1957 he was able to win this for his contribution to In 80 days around the world. Two years later there was a further Oscar nomination.

From the 1950s Lindon worked for the television again and again, here he worked mainly on several television series with. In the 1970s, he worked exclusively for various television productions. 1970 and 1791, he was both awarded an Emmy.

He worked several times with director John Frankenheimer, the last time in 1969 with the film The Extraordinary Seaman.
