Lionel Rogg

Lionel Rogg (* April 21, 1936 in Geneva ) is a Swiss organist, composer and university teacher.

Education and Biography

Rogg studied organ with Pierre Segond and piano with Nikita Magaloff at the Conservatoire de musique in Geneva. He has performed around the world especially the works of Johann Sebastian Bach, whose entire organ works he recorded three times on recordings. Rogg et al played also the complete organ works of Dietrich Buxtehude on a record. He taught until 2001 at the Geneva Conservatoire and taught as a professor of artistic organ playing and improvisation at the Royal Academy of Music in London. He was honored by the University of Geneva with the doctor honoris causa in 1989.
