Lipice

Lipice ( German / Austrian Lippitz ) is a village in the Lika- Senj, Croatia with 254 inhabitants. First mentioned in writing it was 1638th The village is part of the greater community Brinje.

Geography

Lipice is north of the agrarian Lika. Lipice is Brinje in the northeastern part of the district. The municipality borders the villages Glibodol, Križpolje, Letinac and Stajnica. In the type of settlement is a scattered settlement, which in turn made ​​the following eleven hamlets ( Bićanić, Brbot, Mesic, Murat, Pernar, Perković, Trtanj, Smolčić, Vidaković, Vucetic, Vukovic ) is. History

Iapoden

Most likely, the area was inhabited by Lipice already in the Iron Age or early Bronze Age (10th- 8th century BC). Then let discoveries between the hamlets Vukovic and Pernar close. In a Tholos bronze pieces and pottery shards were found. Therefore, a Necropolis is suspected. Further excavations have so far not taken place in this area. The findings so far suggest that Iapoden have populated and inhabited this area.

Roman

In Roman times, the times of Emperor Diocletian ( 284-305 ), the municipality of Lipice the small Roman province Liburnia belonged to. After the division of the Roman Empire in 395 Liburnia remained with the Western Roman Empire.

According to the 2001 census, the municipality has 254 inhabitants.

Attractions

The St. John the Baptist Church in Lipice was built in 1878 after Lipice was recognized as an independent Roman Catholic church since 1871. The holiday village is the St. John's on June 24, which is attributed to John the Baptist.
