Lipochrome

Lipochromes are fat-soluble dyes. The most important group in natural lipids are the carotenoids. A greenish color of oils of a fat comes from chlorophyll.

Only from nine to eleven conjugated double bonds, a connection can be perceived in color.

The best known is lipochrome carotene. It is found in butter or carrots.
