Lipohypertrophy

The lipohypertrophy is a soft increase in size as a result of new bone formation (hypertrophy ) of the subcutaneous adipose tissue.

It can occur where insulin is often injected, ie on the thighs, on the front or side abdomen. This thickening caused by the fact that the injected insulin into the skin locally stimulates the growth of adipose tissue. The problem is that the area of lipohypertrophy is indeed little painful, insulin absorption is at this point but greatly reduced, so that adjustment problems or high insulin consumption can occur.
