Lipót Fejér

Leopold Fejér (Hungarian Fejér Lipót; born February 9, 1880 in Pécs as Leopold Weiss, † October 15, 1959 in Budapest) was a Hungarian mathematician who dealt with Analysis.

Leopold Weiss took in 1900 in the wake of Magyarization of Hungarian Jews to the name Fejér. Fejér studied mathematics and physics in 1897 in Budapest and Berlin, where he was a pupil of Hermann Amandus Schwarz. In 1902 he became a lecturer in Budapest and in 1905 in Kolozsvár. From 1911 until his death he had then held the chair of mathematics at the Eötvös Loránd University of Budapest. His research focus was the Harmonic Analysis and the area of Fourier series. Named after him is the set of Fejér.

Fejér was awarded the Kossuth Prize in 1948.
