The Lipperlandhalle is a multi-purpose hall in Lemgo (North Rhine -Westphalia). It is also the venue of the Handball Bundesliga TBV Lemgo.

History

The Lipperlandhalle was built in 1977 as a school sports hall with only 200 seats under the name " Lüttfeldhalle " for vocational schools in the Lippe district. In the first twenty years of its existence were several modifications and extensions in the immediate vicinity of the campus of the University of East Westphalia -Lippe. In 1983, the number of seats was 950 burst, of whom 870 seats. The space requirements increased further, however, and it was decided to expand to 600 seats. Another bleacher stand with 520 seats, was opened in 1985. This brought the total capacity to 2,000 visitors. At that time lacked the financial resources for a complete reconstruction of the hall.

In the 1996/97 season, as the TBV Lemgo won his first championship in handball was obvious that the spectator capacity, now with 1750 seats and 250 standing room was no longer sufficient. After expanding in 1997, in which a capacity of 3300 seats and standing room for another was reached, it was renamed the hall in " Lipperlandhalle " and sees itself as a sports, cultural and congress center.

To coordinate the next professional sports now increasingly held major events such as concerts, congresses, fairs and markets founded the Lippe and the TBV Lemgo the operating company Lipperlandhalle mbH. The Managing Director is Michael Arend.

Since the time being the last expansion in 2004 and 2005, the hall has a seating capacity of 5000 now, with 10-15 % accounts for standing passengers. For the inauguration in October 2005 next to a open day guided tours and an opening show was staged. With this came -known musician (s) as Annett Louisan, Banaroo, Lou Bega and Limahl on.

The renovation and construction was documented media production in a media project of the University of East Westphalia -Lippe, Department of. The result was a 170 -minute film one years Lipperlandhalle concerning the construction, the most important sporting events in the hall during construction, interviews with the athletes and cultural events. Students developed together with the operators and the Lippe district the new site.
