Lisa Hanna

Lisa Hanna is a Jamaican politician of the People's National Party ( PNP). They achieved fame by winning the Miss World contest in 1993. Since January 6, 2012 she is Jamaican Minister of Youth and Culture.

Life

Hanna grew up in Retreat at Saint Mary Parish, she attended the Queen's High School.

In 1993 she took part in the competition for Miss Jamaica World and won. In November 1993, she also won the international competition in South Africa's Sun City and was crowned Miss World 1993. She was the third Jamaican, who won this competition.

Hanna studied Communications at the University of the West Indies, acquired, in 1998 the Bachelor and graduated in 2000 with a Master from. Professionally, she has worked as Communications Consultant, but it was the early 2000s, among other things, co-host of the talk show Our Voices to the Jamaican television. It was involved in various development projects, including for the World Hunger Project and the Jamaica Movement for the Advancement of Literacy. She was goodwill ambassador for the United Nations (UN).

Hanna was married and in 2001 was the mother of a son. The marriage ended in divorce in 2004.

Policy

In the parliamentary elections on 3 September 2007 Hanna as a candidate of the People's National Party ( PNP) in the constituency of St. Ann South Eastern was elected to the House of Representatives. She was then opposition spokeswoman for youth and cultural policy.

Also in the parliamentary elections on December 29, 2011, she won her constituency for itself. The PNP won in these elections, the government majority and Hanna was appointed by Prime Minister Portia Simpson Miller as Minister of Youth and Culture. Your swearing took place on 6 January 2012.
