Lisa Otto

Lisa Otto ( born November 14, 1919 in Dresden, † September 18, 2013 in Berlin) was a German operatic soprano. She was one of the most famous soubrette in their active time.

Life

Lisa Otto was the daughter of concert singer Karl Otto. She studied piano and singing at the Dresden Conservatory in 1941 and gave her stage debut in Der Rosenkavalier at the Upper Silesian Theatre in Bytom, Upper Silesia.

From 1945 to 1946 she appeared at the Nuremberg Opera, then at the Semperoper in Dresden from 1946 until 1951. 1952 she joined the Städtische Oper Berlin, where she is an honorary member, and also occurred outside Germany, including at the Salzburg Festival and at La Scala.

She was known for her roles in the operas of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, but also in Carl Maria von Weber's Der Freischütz, Beethoven's Fidelio, and Richard Strauss' Ariadne auf Naxos and Elektra works.
