Lisa Wenger

Lisa Wenger ( born January 23, 1858 in Bern, † October 17, 1941 in Carona / Ticino) was a Swiss artist, children's book author and painter.

Life

Lisa Wenger was formed in Paris, Florence and Dusseldorf as a painter and then resulted in Basel a school for porcelain painting. 1890 she married the manufacturer Theo Wenger, moved to Delémont, which was then still part of the Bernese Jura, and began to write. With her ​​novels and short stories, she was soon one of the most widely read authors Swiss.

One of her famous children's books was Joggeli söll ga Birli shake. Her daughter Ruth Wenger was a short time with Hermann Hesse married and her granddaughter Meret Oppenheim was also a well known artist. A grandson of the marriage of their daughter with the UFA - actor Erich Haussmann, the theater and film actor Ezard Haussmann was successfully worked on stage and in front of television cameras. His son, Leander Haussmann is a well known director.
