Lisle is a village in DuPage County in the northeast of the U.S. state of Illinois. In 2000, Lisle had 21,182 inhabitants; to the census in 2010, the population increased to 22,390.

Lisle is located is part of the Chicago metropolitan area.

Title and special

Lisle is the center of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region III ( includes most U.S. states of the Midwest: Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Missouri, Iowa and Illinois). In the zone there are 16 nuclear power stations, six of which Illinois.

In July 2007, Lisle was on the list of most livable cities in the U.S. magazine Money 20th place in 2009 was followed by the 17th place on the list of the most livable places for the rich and single people.

Geography

Lisle is located in northeastern Illinois, near Lake Michigan. The DuPage River is the closest major river in the vicinity of Lisle. The city center of Chicago is 25 miles to the northeast.

History

In 1830 came the Quakers Bailey Hobson, who was the first settler in DuPage County, in the region of Lisle and thus was also the founder of the city. The permanent habitation of the town took off in 1832 by the brothers James C. Hatch and Luther A. Hatch instead, according to the Black Hawk War.

The brother bought land near Ogden Avenue and established a farm which they named due to its proximity to the DuPage River East DuPage. west of the estate of the brothers Hatch was the oldest community today Naperville.

In Lisle some ( important ) innovations were carried out in the 1830s. So there one of the first cemeteries of Illinois was founded.

In 1956, Lisle was officially entered into the city register. On 4 July 2006 the church celebrated its 50th anniversary.

Among the major companies in Lisle include Unilever, Navistar, Platinum Systems Specialists, Molex, CA Technologies, and the Lisle Auto Group, each with over 400 employees.

Lisle is served by two school districts; the largest part of the village is served by the Lisle Community Unit School District 202, parts of Lisle Naperville Community Unit are also in the School District 203

Most high school students visit the Naperville North High School. More high schools are the Lisle High School and Benet Academy, a private parochial school of the Benedictines. In addition, there are three Middle Schools - the Kennedy Junior High School, the Lisle Junior High and St. Joan of Arc.

According to the census in 2010 lived in Lisle 22,390 people in 9,235 households. The population density was 1399.4 people per square kilometer.

The racial the population was composed of 77.7 percent white, 5.6 percent African American, 0.1 percent Native American, 11.9 percent of Asians and other ethnic groups; 2.1 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity were 7.5 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
