List A Cricket

As a List A cricket is called Cricket in high-class one-day games ( one-day matches). At the appropriate international matches, the One- Day Internationals, they are in the same proportion as first-class cricket to Test cricket.

Definition

Like all so-called one-day games they consist of one innings per team, which is always limited to a predetermined number of overs. Therefore, one-day games are often referred to with the term actually fit their limited- overs matches. For List A games this limit must be at least 40 overs, therefore do not fall Twenty20 games below. Almost all of the ten full members of the International Cricket Council (ICC ) discharged from a List A competition, which was historically Over limit between 40 and 65 Over. Even games that need to be shortened by (rain) interruptions to less than 40 overs, are considered List A games, the decisive factor is the original heading of the game.

Status

The term was originally introduced by Philip Bailey, a longtime member of the Association of Cricket Statisticians and Historians (ACS ), to create a first-class cricket to the appropriate category for statistics in one-day games. The name arose simply from the fact that games were divided into an A and a B- list because of their importance. Was officially recognized by the ICC this term in 2006. Since then, the ICC and the relevant national associations the last word on the appropriate classification of games, but these are held to be based on the standard created by the ACS. Therefore, the previously established by the ASC classification remained unchanged.

Games with A- list status

  • One- Day Internationals (ODI )
  • The most important one-day competitions of the full members of the ICC ( sometimes more than a tournament per country)
  • So-called tour matches between test teams and the main first-class teams

No List A status games

  • Twenty20 cricket internationals, including the appropriate
  • Preparation Games to the World Cup ( warm-up matches)
  • Other Tourist matches ( eg games against first-class teams, such as universities, which do not participate in the first-class championship )
  • Festival and Friendlies

List A Twenty20 matches

High-class Twenty20 matches are not considered as a List A games, but for them, quite analogous to the classical one-day cricket, now officially the List A Twenty20 status was created.
