List of churches in Moscow
The list of church buildings in Moscow (Russia) includes worship of any Christian denominations.
The list is limited to individual standing consecrated churches and cathedrals, so that for example entwidmete former churches it does not include, nor churches, which occupy no definable own building or part of a building (eg house churches within secular buildings ). Also, chapels and other ecclesiastical buildings without regular worship are not listed ( including pure Taufkirchen, memorial chapels or similar). In total there are in the urban area of Moscow with the 2010 level over 300 according to these criteria delineated churches, the oldest of which date from the 15th century. This represents a multiplication compared to the state of the early 1990s, what many in the Soviet era entwidmeter, but also due to the construction of entirely new churches in the 1990s and 2000s is on restoration and re- orders.
The list is space in the ten Moscow administrative districts (Center, North, Northeast, East, Southeast, South, Southwest, West, Northwest, city Zelenograd ) divided. Within the ten individual tables, the entries are in alphabetical order by the German name of the (first ) patron saint or the day of remembrance, the church was consecrated, sorted. In the Year column is the year of completion or the consecration of each existing building today without considering both its later modifications or extensions and any predecessor buildings (for example former wooden churches in the same place ) is noted. Is the Year not known precisely, the approximate year of construction or a century is recorded in its place. The statement in the confession column refers to the exact denomination of the respective parish within Christianity. In the district of column one of the 125 areas of Moscow is specified, the church building is located within its administrative limits. In brackets exact description of the geo-coordinates is attached that allows finding the object on the map by clicking on the appropriate links.
