List of craters on Mars

Official names of structures on celestial bodies shall be assigned by the International Astronomical Union ( IAU). Managed the lists by the U.S. Geological Survey ( USGS) in the Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature (see links). They are updated online.

There are a myriad of on Mars impact craters, of which but few carry its own name. This list includes only the name-bearing Martian crater. Crater on Mars are named after famous scientists and science fiction authors or by earthly cities named ( with a population less than 100,000 ).
