A military service is a company or individual who performs services for the military. These services include logistics, maintenance, training and communication.

Military service access not active in combat action and afford no military support. Thus they differ from private security and military companies. According to the Geneva Conventions are military contractors that support direct military operations, legitimate targets for attacks. You have at capture, however, also entitled to treatment as prisoners of war.

Situation in Germany

In Germany military service are active mostly in the form of a Public Private Partnership. Now, even the fleet management of civilian vehicles of the Bundeswehr in the BwFuhrparkService GmbH and maintenance of selected equipment of the Army and Armed Forces base were the clothing store of the Bundeswehr, previously in the hands of the Territorial Defence Administration, the LH Bundeswehr clothing mbH, passed to the Heeresinstandsetzungslogistik GmbH. By outsourcing these measures quality improvements and cost reductions are expected. The Bundeswehr is to focus on their core military tasks. As a think tank and entrepreneurial arm of the Ministry of Defense of the company for the development, procurement and operation mbH was established.
