List of earthquakes in Haiti

The following list of large earthquakes in Haiti called the recorded significant earthquake in Haiti since the 1700s. The current state of Haiti forms the western part of the island of Hispaniola, between the islands of Puerto Rico and Cuba. In the eastern part of the island is the larger Dominican Republic.

In the field of geographic longitude of the earthquake of 12 January 2010, the movement between the plates is divided into two major faults that run from west to east: the Septentrional Fault in the north and the Enriquillo - Plantain -Garden Fault ( Enriquillo - Plantain Garden fault zone, EPGFZ ) in the south of the island. Earthquake and the earthquake consequences therefore relate to different extents possibly area and population of both states. The most recent major earthquake occurred on the afternoon of January 12, 2010, and claimed more than 200,000 lives.
