List of Governors of Karnataka

The following table lists the Governors of Karnataka with respective term of office. The state was created from the former Kingdom of Mysore which is a part of the state of the Indian Union after independence of India. The last ruler of Mysore Jaya Chamaraja Wodeyar (1919-1974) was from 26 January 1950 to October 31, 1956 Rajpramukh ( head). On November 1, 1956, the State by the States Reorganisation Act was reshaped within the limits of kannadasprachigen areas and introduced the governorship. Since 1 November 1973, the State bears its present name of Karnataka.
