The following table lists the Governors of Kerala with respective term of office. Prior to the founding of the state of Kerala in 1956 was the former Maharaja of Travancore Bala Rama Varma II ( 1912-1991 ) from 1949 to 1956 Head of State ( " Rajpramukh ") of the predecessor State of Travancore -Cochin in the Indian Union.
