List of Governors of Manipur

The following table lists the Governors of Manipur with respective term of office. Manipur was administered on October 15, 1949 part of the Indian Union and from 1 November 1956 as a union territory initially under the leadership of Chief Commissioners and in 1969 a Deputy Governor (Lieutenant Governor ). With the redesign of the north-eastern India after the Bangladesh war of Manipur as well as Tripura and Meghalaya on January 21, 1972, a federal state. By 1981, the Governor of Assam was then responsible for these three countries, thereafter until 1989 there were a common Governor of Manipur and Tripura.
