List of Governors of Tripura

The following table lists the Governors of Tripura with respective term of office. Tripura was administered on October 15, 1949 part of the Indian Union and from 1 November 1956 as a union territory headed by a Chief Commissioners. With the redesign of the north-eastern India after the Bangladesh war Tripura as well as Meghalaya and Manipur on January 21, 1972, a federal state. By 1981, the Governor of Assam was then responsible for these three countries, thereafter until 1989 there were a common Governor of Tripura and Manipur.
