List of lights

The Beacon directory contains all important information about the shipping beacon of sea area.

Data

The Beacon directory contains all data on the beacon, even those that can not be represented in the chart for reasons of space. List of lights and chart are therefore always used in parallel.

Following data are given for each beacon:

  • International Beacon number
  • Name and Location
  • Description of the fire support with height of the fire support on the ground
  • Position (coordinates in WGS 84; just rounded value in degrees and minutes )
  • Identification ( description of the light bill )
  • Nominal significance
  • Height of the beacon on the water ( in the North Sea at mean tide level )
  • Comments (reliability, private property, etc.)

Data acquisition and editor

The data is collected by the authorities of each country.

For German waters the Waterways and Shipping Directorates collect the data. The German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic they are available in four ring binders in DIN A4 format, each with approximately 250 to 350 pages out:

Lists of Lights with worldwide coverage created the United Kingdom Hydrographic Office under its Admiralty Charts and Publications Admiralty List of Lights and as the fog signal.
