List of NHL statistical leaders

In almost all sports statistics play a major role and even more than in Europe, in North America, almost everything has to be recognized in numbers, counted, recorded and compared. Accordingly, much is also in the National Hockey League ( NHL), the importance of time highs in all areas. The most important criteria are, of course, goals, assists and points, but also for the number of games or time penalties, there are leaderboards. For goalkeepers wins, shutouts, but also the Gegentordurchschnitt be counted. The leaderboards also differ according to the considered interval ( third game, season, career) or on the position of the player.

Now, however, it is difficult in many categories to compare players who have played in different times. Most leaderboards look at the NHL since its foundation in the season 1917/18. Are Wayne Gretzky's 92 goals in the season 1981/82 higher rate than the 44 goals from Joe Malone in the season 1917/18? While Gretzky scored 1.15 goals in his 80 games this season, Malone met 2.2 times in just 20 games. On the other hand, it had Malone easier against a goalie without a mask, who had to change his style in the first NHL season, as it was now permitted for the first time, to drop to her knees to ward. Due to the ever increasing number of games per season appear more players of the modern era in the career leaderboards. Only since the 50s is a season reached 70 games with a zoom reaching to the current 82 games degree.
