Graphical representation of the terms of office of the Popes
The following lists provide a visual overview of the duration and timing of the terms of office of the Popes.
Popes of the official list are shown in green, anti-popes in red. At times, such as during the Western Schism, there are three popes at the same time, so this list is an official Pope overlapping anti-popes are shown in red in green and two. For the special problem of counting the popes see also Pope and list of popes.
The list is divided for clarity and for the sake of readability in eight sequences each 250 years. At the end of each graph are added to represent pontificates can run over the time bounds 25 more years.
