List of premiers of Newfoundland and Labrador

This list outlines the Prime Minister (English premier ) in the Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador. Newfoundland and Labrador has a unicameral parliament with one based on the Westminster parliamentary system government. Here, the prime minister is also the chairman of the party, the ( House of Assembly ) holds in the House the most seats. The Prime Minister acts as head of government, while the Head of State, the Canadian monarch, by a Vice Governor ( lieutenant governor ) is represented. Before joining the Canadian Confederation in 1949, Newfoundland and Labrador was initially a British crown colony until 1907, then an independent Dominion (see Newfoundland ( Dominion ) ). Governmental power was exercised in 1934 after the collapse of the economy of an unelected government commission.
