List of premiers of Ontario

This list outlines the Prime Minister (English premier ) in the Canadian province of Ontario. Ontario has a unicameral parliament with one based on the Westminster parliamentary system government. Here, the prime minister is also the chairman of the party that holds the most seats in the Legislative Assembly. The Prime Minister acts as head of government, while the Head of State, the Canadian monarch, by a Vice Governor ( lieutenant governor ) is represented. Moreover, the Prime Minister from among the elected members, together referred to as the Executive Government and is this before.

In this list, only the Prime Minister are taken into account since the Canadian Confederation in 1867. In the pre-existing province of Canada each have a prime minister from the English part ( Ontario) and the French part ( Québec) ruled jointly (see List of Prime Ministers of the Province of Canada). The colony Upper Canada from 1792 to 1840 was managed by emissaries of the British Crown.
