List of rulers of Provence

The governor or Seneschal of Provence managed the County of Provence, on behalf of the French king.

The last Count of Provence Charles V of Maine had, because he had no descendants, for the Provence the French King Louis XI. appointed heir. With Charles' death in 1481 the Provence was thus to the French crown, and was integrated into the Domaine royal. Louis XI. appointed a governor who should govern the country for him.
