List of sports films

A sports movie is a film in which are athletes, sports or sporting events in the center of the action.

The Encyclopedia of Sports Science ( Röthig, 1992) defined Sports Films follows: " Sport Movies in the strict sense are films that are significantly affected by the specially designed sports-related content. In a further non-specific sense, such films can be described as sports films that deal in some degree subjects from the sports that are not determinative, however, for the film. [ ... ] "

The definition clearly suggests that elements of sport happy to be additionally built into the dramaturgy of films without these elements reach a substantial importance for the plot of a film. On the question of whether sports films make their own movie, similar to Western, comedy or film noir are in the literature different viewpoints represented ( cf. Rowe, 1998; Philpott, 2000).
