List of United States national lakeshores and seashores

As National Seashore (English National seashore ), this protection areas in the United States are referred to on the coast, which have been declared by the Federal Government of the United States as areas of special importance for the conservation of nature with the simultaneous expansion of recreational use. In 1953, Cape Hatteras National Seashore has been awarded, since nine other coastal sections were placed under a protected area of the management of the National Park Service. Overall, the ten National Seashores comprise approximately 1940 square kilometers.
