Multiple listings

The stocks of large companies are often listed on several stock exchanges to some extent abroad to benefit from increased liquidity. For example, the shares of Bayer AG was listed until 2007 in New York City on the NYSE and by 2011 in London at the LSE. As a result of the computer trade (see also Xetra), which generally focuses the market liquidity on the main stock market has, however, to be listed on several stock exchanges has much less importance than in the past. For cost reasons, Bayer operation and a number of other European companies delisted from these exchanges.
